Felicia Day to battle Werewolves in ‘Red’

Felicia Day to battle Werewolves in ‘Red’

It should come as no surprise that we’re big fans of Felicia Day at The Geek Effect.  Having been on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse, and her own online series The Guild, Day is near and dear to our hearts.  As such, we’re pretty eager to see her battle werewolves in Syfy’s upcoming movie, Red. Alright, I know you’re probably thinking, “Syfy movies kind of suck.”, but for Felica, we’ll give them a pass this time around.

Having already battled vampires, it seems only natural that she take on werewolves (mind you, Seth Green was one in Buffy now that I think about it).  The movie goes something like this:

Red is of course a take on the classic Red Riding Hood story, and Felicia Day will star as the titular character, a werewolf-hunting descendant of the original Riding Hood. One day she brings her fiance home to meet her family and he learns that they’re all werewolf hunters, thinking that it’s a joke until he’s bitten by one himself. While her family wants him destroyed, Red tries to find a cure for him.”

Alright, that kind of sounds compelling to me.  Regardless, it’s Felicia and great to see her getting involved in stand-alone projects on larger networks.  How no one has scooped her up for a regular series is a mystery to me.  Come on casting agents, this girl’s gold!

While there isn’t a lot more information about Red at this point, Syfy did tweet this sweet pic of Day on set (see below). Sporting a snazzy pistol and nasty looking boot knife, Day looks ready to take on just about anything that comes at her.  It’ll be great practice against the horde of fanboys that will be chasing her after this movie hits the tube.  Can’t wait!

On a totally unrelated matter, you see that awesome pic of Felicia at the top of the post?  It was taken by photography duo The Bui Brothers.  If you’re into photography check out their site for some of the best photos I’ve ever seen.
