Move over Tarantino. Move over Rodriguez. But mostly move over Tarantino because you’re really not all that. There’s a new exploitation movie mimic in town. His name is Rick Jacobson and his film is Bitch Slap. That’s right; prepare to be offended, in a good way of course.
Like most people, I totally enjoy the trailers and ideas behind exploitation films, but I rarely enjoy watching the entire, finished product. This is because exploitation movies by their very nature are just really bad, poorly made movies. This is also why I’ve never really understood why Quentin Tarantino, a guy who openly admits to pillaging 1970’s exploitation films for the ideas and inspirations behind his own movies, is held in such high regard.
Rick Jacobson’s Bitch Slap is touted as being “the thinking man’s exploitation film” and caused a stir at many film festivals where it appeared last year including Cannes, Toronto, Athens and Helsinki. It gets a DVD and Blu-Ray release today so I hope to give it a look a little later on to see exactly what it means to be “the thinking man’s exploitation film.” True to fashion, the movie certainly does have a lot of great imagery attached to it and the trailer does look like a lot of fun.
Give it a watch and let us know what you think in the comments section.

It looks terrible, Yet I can’t stop myself from wanting to watch it.
MOnkyking, I was thinking the same thing. The greenscreen CG isn’t good, the acting is meh, but I watched it from beginning to end and am anxious to watch the entire flick. Ahhh B Movies.
